Eyebrow Tattooing Methods & What to Expect

 

At Lush Brows Skin and Body Dromana, we specialise in advanced eyebrow tattooing techniques designed to enhance your natural beauty. Here’s everything you need to know about the methods we offer and what to expect during your treatment journey.

 

Tattooing Methods

 

Microblading

 

Microblading is a semi-permanent technique using a manual hand tool with fine ‘microblades’ to deposit pigment into the superficial dermis of the skin. This method creates natural-looking, hair-like strokes that mimic the appearance of real eyebrow hairs.

 

Ideal for clients wanting to enhance their brows subtly, microblading offers beautifully defined results. However, it’s not suitable for all skin types—this will be assessed during your consultation at our boutique studio in Dromana.

 

Microshading

 

Microshading uses an electronic device (similar to a standard tattoo machine) to implant pigment into the epidermis, creating a soft, powdery finish—often referred to as a “powder brow” look.

 

This method is perfect for those who prefer a fuller, more defined brow with a gradient or shaded effect. You can choose from a range of colour intensities, from soft and natural to bold and dramatic.

 

Combo Brows

 

Combo Brows combine both microblading and microshading techniques, offering the best of both worlds. This popular method provides the natural, hair-like strokes of microblading with the soft, shaded finish of microshading for fuller, more dimensional brows.

 

Your Brow Tattoo Journey in Dromana: The 2-Step Process (all skin types do vary.. additional touch up may be needed)

 

Step 1: Initial Procedure (2–3 hours)

    •    Consultation: We’ll discuss your desired brow look, assess your skin type, and select the perfect pigment shade.

    •    Mapping & Design: We carefully measure and outline your brows to achieve the best possible symmetry. While no face is perfectly symmetrical, we aim to create brows that are beautifully balanced—remember, “brows are sisters, not twins.”

    •    Tattooing: Once you approve the design, we begin the procedure, using either a manual microblading tool or a machine for shading, depending on your chosen technique.

 

Step 2: Touch-Up Appointment (1 hour)

 

A follow-up session is essential for refining the shape and colour:

    •    Timing: Scheduled 4–6 weeks after your initial procedure (no earlier than 4 weeks, no later than 6 weeks).

    •    Purpose: To perfect your brows, add pigment where needed, and ensure long-lasting results.

    •    Note: If the touch-up isn’t booked within 6 weeks, a fee will apply as outlined in our touch-up policy.

 

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

 

To ensure the best results, please follow these guidelines before your appointment at our Dromana studio:

    •    24 Hours Before: Avoid alcohol and caffeine.

    •    72 Hours Before: Do not take blood thinners like Advil, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin, or Vitamin E (unless prescribed).

    •    Avoid During Menstrual Cycle: Sensitivity may increase during this time.

    •    3 Days Before: No waxing, tanning, or tinting the brow area.

 

Avoid These 30 Days Before Your Appointment:

    •    Botox or dermal fillers

    •    Fruit or lactic acid treatments

    •    Laser treatments or chemical peels

    •    Prolonged sun exposure

 

Consult with your artist if you:

    •    Have problematic skin or medical conditions

    •    Take specific medications

    •    Have existing cosmetic tattoos

 

Aftercare: What to Avoid

 

First 7 Days:

    •    No makeup or creams (except protective ointments) on the brow area

    •    Avoid heavy sweating, saunas, facials, and steam treatments

 

Next 30 Days:

    •    No sunbathing, tanning beds, laser treatments, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion

    •    Avoid products with active ingredients like retinol or acids near the brow area

 

Note: Laser treatments can fade pigment, and medications like antibiotics or hormonal therapy may affect colour retention.

 

Aftercare Pack Provided

 

To support the healing process, you’ll receive a complimentary aftercare pack with everything you need to care for your new brows, including:

    •    A protective healing balm

    •    Detailed aftercare instructions

 

Following these guidelines, along with using your aftercare pack, will help ensure optimal results.

 

Healing & Results

    •    Initial Appearance: Your brows will look darker and more defined for the first 7–10 days.

    •    Scabbing: Expect light scabbing as part of the healing process. Do NOT pick at scabs, as this can affect pigment retention.

    •    Colour Fading: Up to 40% of the pigment will fade as the skin heals. Final results are visible after 4–6 weeks.

 

Everyone heals differently, so results may vary based on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

 

Long-Term Maintenance

 

The pigment used in microblading and microshading is semi-permanent, typically lasting up to 3 years. Fading begins around the 12-month mark, and we recommend touch-ups every 12–24 months to maintain a fresh, defined look.

    •    Note: After 2 years, a full treatment price applies.

    •    Clients with lighter pigment choices or those who do not follow aftercare properly may need more frequent touch-ups.
